Limit Holdem

Here, online Texas holdem poker players are restricted on how much they can bet, and how many bets can be made per round. For the first two rounds of betting (pre-flop and post-flop), players can only bet and raise an amount equal to the table stake minimums. For example, if you are playing in a $3-$6 Texas Limit Holdem poker game, only $3 can be incrementally bet for the first two rounds of betting. For all rounds of betting, there is a maximum of 4 bets per round. If the pot is raised to 4 times the value of the minimum bet ($12 for our first round example), then betting stops and the next card(s) will be exposed.

The second level of Texas Limit Holdem poker betting occurs after the fourth community card ("the turn") is exposed. At this point, the upper range of the table stakes is the minimum bet. In our $3-$6 Texas Limit Holdem example, all bets must be made in increments of $6 versus $3. The same maximum of 3 raises per round (4 bets) holds true in these latter rounds as well.

No Limit Holdem

Texas No Limit Holdem poker means just that. There is no limit to how much a poker player can bet at any time. If a player wants, he or she can push all of his or her poker chips into the middle and go "all in". The minimum bet in a betting round is equal to the big blind. The minimum raise in a betting round is equal to the previous bet or raise.

Pot Limit Holdem

Pot Limit Texas Holdem Poker means that the maximum amount of money that can be bet at any time is equal to the total amount of money in the pot. The minimum poker bet in any betting round is the big blind. A raise must either match or exceed the previous bet or raise, up to the size of the pot.

For example, if the pot is $100 at the start of the betting round, the first poker player may bet at least the amount of the big blind up to a maximum of $100, the size of the pot. If the first poker player bets $100, making the pot $200, the next player can bet a minimum of $100 (calling the prior bet) or raise to a maximum of $400 (a call of $100 would make the pot $300, so the second holdem poker player can raise up to $300 more, for a total of $400).
